Loom Videos
Recording a Loom (From Desktop App)
Open up the application for Loom.
You must do your recording from the desktop application.
(Do not use the Chrome Extension - this will limit you to only being able to record your Chrome Browser and no other applications).
You may also notice that your Loom app is at the top of your Mac in the Menu bar. You can click into this shortcut as a quick and easy way to open the app.

The app will pop up with the below screen.

Select the option you wish to record with from the dropdown.

It is important that you now also select the option “Custom Size”.

If you have more than one screen, it will give you the option to select which Desktop to record from.

Select your preferred option.

Once prompted you should now select the area in which you want to record.

Click “Start Recording”

There will now be a countdown from 3 and your screen will then start to be recorded.

Once the recording has started you will notice the following bar at the side of your screen.
These buttons do the following:

Stop the recording
-
Restart the recording
-
Pause the recording
-
Deletes the recording.
NOTE: Once you click the Stop recording button it will automatically save the video to you to your “My Library” section.

You will see a copy of your recording.

You can rename the recording by double clicking the title.

In the top right corner you will see an option to copy the link.

There is also the three dots which give you the option to:

Copy the link
-
Share (this option allows you to make it visible on the Loom app to other users.)

Move (this is only for your personal folders)
-
Duplicate
-
Archive
-
Delete
-
From this page you will also note that you can review a transcript of your video, tweak any video settings, trim & add clips to the video, as well as add a Call to Action and amend the initial thumbnail for the video.

Think of this as a presentation to a Client (even if you are not even sending this to a Client directly initially)

ALL Looms are shareable so a Loom you may have created with the intention of being internal may end up being distributed externally.

Think about what it is you are going to say before you start to record your Loom to avoid having confusion or repetition.

It may be beneficial to roughly plot out what you’re going to say if you aren’t as confident.

Try to avoid “umm-ing” and “ahhh-ing”, if in doubt, just take a pause.
Shortcuts

Start & stop recording = Command + Shift + L

Pause & resume recording = Option + Shift + P

Cancel recording = Option + Shift + C
